The following poem was conceived out of spite and hatred, out of a feeling of empathy towards those who must deal with catcalling and a feeling of severe distaste towards those who commit such acts. The contents of the poem was meant to reflect a shared opinion between several of my friends and myself, following personal experiences regarding the act of catcalling.
(Das folgende Gedicht entstand aus Bosheit und Hass, aus einem Gefühl der Empathie gegenüber denjenigen, die mit Catcalling konfrontiert sind, und aus einem Gefühl der Abscheu gegenüber denjenigen, die solche Handlungen begehen. Der Inhalt des Gedichts sollte die übereinstimmende Meinung von mehreren Freunden und mir widerspiegeln, nachdem wir persönliche Erfahrungen mit dem Catcalling gemacht hatten.)
Das Gedicht entstand im Englischunterricht bei Frau Leuschner.
Catcalling bezeichnet sexuell anzügliches Hinterherrufen und Laute produzieren sowie Nachpfeifen. Mehrheitlich passiert dies durch Männer gegenüber Frauen und stellt eine Form der verbalen sexuellen Beslästigung dar. Der Begriff stammt aus dem Englischen.
Catcalling
'give us a smile' they say to me
'just a little smile'
As I dream of ecstasy
I sit through hell all the while
Your calls, they shame
Your whistles strike fear
I'm not your beast to tame
Don't you dare come near
A cat call or two
Another degrading term
They're nothing to you
But us, they hit quite firm
'it's bullshit! Enough!'
We scream in your ear
'be a little more tough'
'not all men' that's not what we need to hear
